February 2011
Bolton Public Library
Board of Trustees
Meeting February 8th, 10:00 a.m.
Program Room

Present: Bob Zak, Chris Sterling
Also present: Kelly Collins

Agenda Items:

Director’s Report:
Kelly was approached by the Historical Society about displaying items in the library. This would require a display case, which the library does not have. She met with Roberta and amy from the Artisans Guild to discus using the Program Room as gallery space. The library is partnering with Bolton Local on a 3 month trial series. The FoBPL lecture series will now be known as First Thursdays @ the Library with varying programs and activities. Signage is needed for the parking lot, see below. A frozen pipe caused the book drop to be unusable. The new Wowbrary newsletter now has 65 subscribers. Wowbrary emails patrons with news of new library acquisitions.

Survey Action Plan:
This has been postponed until after Kelly’s meeting with Leigh.

Signage for Event Parking:
Recent large events have filled the library’s parking lot to capacity. In order to reserve a portion of available spaces for regular use of library patrons, Kelly proposed that we purchase one large and four small signs directing event attendees away from regular use parking. A motion was made by Bob, seconded by Chris and passed unanimously to spend up to $600 of grant money for these signs. We will also approach the Friends to possibly help pay for the large sign.

Freezing Pipe:
Kelly will ask Bob White to have O’Connor examine the book drop to find a solution to the freezing pipe problem.

Security System:
Kelly is waiting for a third quote to provide increased access to the Program Room.

Building Update:
There are still some issues to resolve, so the final check has not been released. It was agreed that the Building Committee should be dissolved. Since the committee was formed by both the Trustees and the Board of Selectmen, we will need a joint meeting with them to dissolve the committee.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 2nd at 6 p.m. at the library.

Respectfully submitted, the Trustees,

Robert Zak                      Roland Ochsenbein                       Christine Sterling
